AARP 2020 TaxAide

As you may know, the IRS has announced that the opening of the tax season
has been delayed to update new tax law changes and that it will not begin
accepting and processing 2020 tax returns until February 12, 2021.
Please advise patrons who inquire that AARP Foundation Tax-Aide plans to
provide a website where taxpayers can visit to request free of charge tax
preparation and request help from a volunteer counselor in preparing their
own tax returns. However, due to the delay in opening the tax season the
website will not be operational until Tuesday, February 9th.
The website will be: http://www.aarpfoundation.org/taxaide. At that time, individuals
may also call AARP Tax-Aide at 888-AARP-now (888-227-7669) for
information about alternatives for tax filing.
Taxpayers are reminded that in Rockland County due to the ongoing
Covid-19 pandemic and related risk to AARP volunteers and clients, all
contacts will necessarily take place remotely. As such, taxpayers will need
access to the internet, an email address and telephone access to
participate.
As you can understand, this is an evolving situation. Should program
adjustments occur or opening dates change we will continue to keep you
apprised.
