Library Administrative Clerk

The Livingston Manor Library seeks an enthusiastic and dependable person for a part-time Library Administrative Clerk position. As the first person our patrons encounter physically and by phone, our successful candidate must be friendly, approachable and able to greet and guide our patrons at the library.


The position will require you to be the first contact with our patrons at the circulation counter. Administrative Library Clerks must have strong customer service skills and are primarily responsible for a variety of general clerical duties while helping a diverse population of library patrons.​ Duties include but are not limited to, maintaining library statistics, answering email and phone inquiries, collecting fines; and special projects as assigned.


The successful candidate must have the ability to express ideas clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing; to be attentive to detail; and to interact tactfully and courteously with patrons and staff. This position requires computer skills and a demonstrated familiarity with the MS Office suite as well as the ability to handle web-based platforms. This position requires the ability to do physical work such as standing, bending and lifting (up to 30 pounds).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree or two years of office or library experience is required. Familiarity with Sirsi-Dynix Symphony library software is a plus.


This position requires availability to work days on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and every other Saturday until 1. The 20-25 hours a week position includes a paid 30-minute lunch period during the  7 hour shifts.


Applicants must be able to follow all of the Library’s COVID-19 health protocols including being able to tolerate a proper face covering for the duration of the work shift.  Library Clerks participate in sanitizing patron and staff workstations during their shifts.
