The Livingston Manor Free Library Board of Trustees is seeking a library director to lead a busy, service-oriented, association library chartered to serve the Livingston Manor Central School district of about 3500 residents. Livingston Manor is a small town in a beautiful river valley whose residents enjoy outdoor life in Sullivan County, NY. It is situated on an interstate highway giving easy access to shopping, medical facilities and educational institutions. The successful candidate should exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relations within a rural community environment.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise a small, part time staff and volunteers, administer all facets of library management including budgeting, payroll, programming, building upkeep, purchase of materials and supplies, fund raising, technology and software use and maintenance.
Minimum qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s Degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science from a graduate library program accredited by the American Library Association is preferred. Experience with administration and management of staff in a library environment. Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and technology skills. Ability to work effectively with library trustees, elected officials, community groups, and the general public
Salary and benefits are competitive to neighborhood libraries in Sullivan and Ulster Counties.
